Political Journey	On 25 July 1997, she took the oath as the chief minister of Bihar for the first time and held the post till 11 February 1999. On 9 March 1999, she took the oath as the chief minister of Bihar for the second time and held the post till 2 March 2000. On 11 March 2000, she took the oath as the chief minister of Bihar for the third time and held the post till 6 March 2005. On 20 November 2005, she became the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly and held the post till 23 December 2010. She won the Raghopur seat thrice in Bihar Assembly elections; however, in the 2010 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections, she contested from two seats: Raghopur and Sonpur assembly seats and lost both. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, she contested from the Saran constituency but lost to Rajiv Pratap Rudy of BJP. On 12 May 2018, she became the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Council and held the post till 23 June 2020. She currently serves as a member of the Bihar Legislative Council.

On 25 July 1997, she took the oath as the chief minister of Bihar for the first time and held the post till 11 February 1999.
On 9 March 1999, she took the oath as the chief minister of Bihar for the second time and held the post till 2 March 2000.
On 11 March 2000, she took the oath as the chief minister of Bihar for the third time and held the post till 6 March 2005.
On 20 November 2005, she became the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly and held the post till 23 December 2010.
