Political Journey	From 2002-2004, appointed as a member of Task Force for interlinking of rivers. Became the National Treasurer of BJP in 2010; was elected the member of Rajya Sabha the same year. Became the member of Committee on 'Provision of Computers' to members of Rajya Sabha from 2012 onward. Took charge as the Minister of State for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy in May 2014. Replaced Suresh Prabhu as the Minister of Railways in September 2017. In July 2021, he was appointed as the Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha, succeeding his colleague Thawar Chand Gehlot. In July 2021, the BJP retained him as its leader in the Rajya Sabha. Served as Rajya Sabha member for 14 years (2010-2024). Appointed as Cabinet Minister of Commerce & Industry in 2019.
