Some Lesser Known Facts
1. Anu Aga is a successful Indian entrepreneur and one of the wealthiest women in India; she is also involved in social work. Anu was born into an upper-middle-class Parsi family in Mumbai. Anu met Rohinton Aga after completing her studies; they got married in 1965 and had two children, Meher and Kurush. Anu's father, A S Bhathena, founded Thermax Global, formerly known as Wanson India, in 1966. Anu's husband, Rohinton, took over Thermax after her father's retirement in 1980. Amid personal tragedies, including the loss of a daughter and Rohinton's health issues, Anu stepped in to lead the family business. After Rohinton's passing in 1996, Anu faced challenges managing Thermax but implemented successful restructuring strategies with the help of consultants. Anu faced further personal losses with the deaths of her mother-in-law and son in the following years. To cope with these losses, Anu turned to Vipassana meditation for strength and resilience. Anu retired from Thermax in 2004, passing the leadership on to her daughter, Meher. Anu is actively involved in philanthropic efforts supporting education for underprivileged children through various initiatives and organizations. Anu maintains a strong commitment to Vipassana meditation, yoga, and physical fitness routines even after retirement. Anu holds progressive views on religion, stating she is not deeply religious and does not practice idol worship.
