Following his father's tragic death in 1995 at the hands of the Punjab Police after exposing thousands of unlawful killings, Janmeet, who was only eight years old at the time, was inspired to carry on his father's legacy through human rights activism with his mother and sister at the Khalra Mission Organization. |
| 5. Janmeet is devoted to advocating for Sikh causes and shares his father's story at various gatherings, both in India and globally. |
| 6. In 2022, Punjabi artist Diljit Dosanjh faced backlash while shooting for Jaswant Singh Khalra's biopic due to criticism that he was not culturally fitting for the role. However, the Khalra family officially granted permission for the biopic's production. |
| 7. His great-grandfather, Harnam Singh, was one of the 376 passengers aboard the Komagata Maru (Guru Nanak Jahaz) that reached Vancouver on May 23, 1914, challenging British and Canadian exclusion laws; he was arrested upon return to India on September 27, 1914. |
