3. Generations of activism against social injustices have been a part of the Khalra family. Janmeet's ancestors were actively involved in significant movements, such as fighting alongside Banda Singh Bahadur and participating in the Singh Sabha movement and the Komagata Maru incident.

Following his father's tragic death in 1995 at the hands of the Punjab Police after exposing thousands of unlawful killings, Janmeet, who was only eight years old at the time, was inspired to carry on his father's legacy through human rights activism with his mother and sister at the Khalra Mission Organization.
