The decision followed a request from Madhya Pradesh Congress Scheduled Caste Department President Pradeep Ahirwar to make way for a Scheduled Caste representative, promoting Dalit self-respect and political participation. Singh clarified that this step does not indicate retirement from politics and reaffirmed his commitment to continue working actively for the Congress party and public causes in Madhya Pradesh.
