She completed her schooling in Nowshera before moving to Jammu for higher education. She attended MHACS Nagbani School in Jammu for her higher secondary education. After her schooling, she enrolled at Women's College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, to pursue her graduation. During her studies, she resided alone in a rented room for over eight years. While completing her final semester, she began studying for the UPSC Central Armed Police Forces examination. Simran successfully cleared the exam on her first attempt with an All India Rank of 82 among 151 successful candidates announced by the UPSC on 2 June 2023. She was the only woman candidate from Jammu and Kashmir to qualify for the UPSC CAPF examination in 2023. After passing the exam, she was appointed as an Assistant Commandant in the Central Armed Police Forces. Motivated by her experiences with cross-border firing, she acknowledged the support from her parents and teachers during her preparation. In January 2026, she served as an Assistant Commandant in the CRPF and became the first woman officer from her district to join. She was selected to lead an all-male CRPF contingent during the 76th Republic Day parade.
