Erika McEntarfer has built a significant career in economics, beginning her journey in government in 2002. She initially joined the Census Bureau, contributing to the Longitudinal Employer–Household Dynamics Program until 2008. Her career continued at the U.S. Treasury Department before returning to the Census Bureau in a lead economist role in 2010. She held a prominent position as head of research at the Dynamics Program between 2018 and 2019. Most recently, she was nominated by President Joe Biden to lead the Bureau of Labour Statistics (BLS). After her confirmation in January 2024, she implemented important administrative changes to the Bureau's operations.
