In 2000, he became the state president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. In 2019, he became the Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha from Bilaspur constituency. In August 2022, he became the President of Bharatiya Janata Party, Chhattisgarh. In November 2023, he became the Member of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly from the Lormi constituency. In December 2023, he became the deputy chief minister of Chattisgarh.
