| 3. In December 2003, Mathur was appointed as the Chief Secretary of Tripura by the Chief Minister. |
| 4. Appointed by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, he served as the Union Defence Production Secretary for two years from 1 October 2012. |
| 5. On 18 December 2015, Mathur took charge as the Chief Information Commissioner of the CIC until his retirement on 24 November 2018. |
| 6. Nominated by President Ram Nath Kovind on 25 October 2019, Mathur assumed office as Ladakh's first Lieutenant Governor on 31 October 2019. |
