Career

Worked as a journalist and editor for Hindu Mahasabha publications including 'Agrani' and 'Hindu Rashtra'.
Member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in his early years before leaving due to differences.
Active in Hindu Mahasabha politics and activism as a Chitpavan Brahmin nationalist.
Assassinated Mahatma Gandhi on 30 January 1948 by shooting him three times at point-blank range during a prayer meeting at Birla House in New Delhi.
Sentenced to death on 8 November 1949 after a trial at the Punjab High Court in Shimla, along with co-conspirator Narayan Apte.

2. He was given the name Nathuram to ward off bad luck.
3. Before he was born, his parents had three sons and a daughter.
4. Sadly, all three sons passed away.
5. Due to these losses, his parents initially raised him as a girl.
6. When his younger brother, Gopal Godse, was born. his parents began treating him as a boy.
