Khaleda Zia, BNP Chairperson and former three-time Prime Minister of Bangladesh, passed away at around 6 AM at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka after prolonged illness involving multiple health complications including heart, lung, liver, kidney issues, diabetes, arthritis, and eye ailments. She was 80 years old. The government announced three days of state mourning from 31 December 2025 to 2 January 2026, along with a one-day general holiday for her funeral prayers.
